Interview

This is a bit late, but last Thursday I did my interview with Ms. Jennifer Bent at slover library. She is ine if the people in charge of the Youth Library section. She was really kind for giving me some of her time to do the interview despite her busy schedule. I enjoyed our conversation as well as working with her during Spring break. She's an awesome person!

Last Day

Today is my last day at Slover Library. It's been a day of shelf-reading and toy cleaning, but it was really fun. I had a great time, and until next time. 

Tidying up

Today, I shelved books from the 1st floor to the 4th. There weren't that much of books needed to be shelved back, and I actually had fun a long the way, cuz I was able to browse through the library's books. 

At the children's section, I tidied up tthe Kidzone, which was a mess...I didn't even know where to start. Also, we brought out new toys gor the kids. 

New and Exciting

Today, the new interactive games at the Slover Library are available for kids to play with. There are 4 projectors in total that display images on the floor, featuring games like soccer, basketball, popping bubbles, and more. This is an exciting new activity, not just for children, but also for those who are still kids at heart. 

Toys, toys, more toys and books

Today, I cleaned more toys. These were the toys used by the babies who played at the Babygarten, the library's program for children 0-24 months old. I also help set up for Learning edge, another program for kids. 

Aside from working at the kids' section, I also worked at the adults' section and shelf-read the biographies at the fourth floor. It was interesting but I became a bit sleepy half-way through, though. 

First Day

I finally started working, and my first job was to clean toys. I had fun some fun doing it cuz I got to see how different kids' toys are right now compared to my toys when I was little, and thought "I wished I had these when I was little too."

Tour around Slover Library

Before I start working as a volunteer at Slover Library, I decided to tour the place last Friday. It's the biggest and awesomest, if that's a word, library that I've been. They have touch-screen online catalogs and building directory, which I found really cool. The building has, I think, five or six floors, where in books and other resource materials are found at the first three floors, and meeting rooms and computer labs are found at the top floors.

At the second floor, the library has an area specifically for children. The library has books available for kids from toddler 'til 12 years of age. There is also a play space for kids ages 0-2, a kidszone for older kids, and an art studio located in this section of the library. Computers and tablets are also open for kids to use.

But the main event of my library visit, and every library visit that I do, is looking for these, Japanese manga and anime DVDs. However, I was a bit sad because they did not have a whole shelf or shelves filled with manga, unlike other libraries. They also did not have anime DVDs. It was a bit disappointing, but overall, Slover Library is still AMAZING for me.
